I hope that everyone had a great Father’s Day weekend! I wasn’t able to be home with my family but of course I still felt the love. Sent a ComicBook Card off to my dad because well he the reason why Im such and AfroGeek anyway.  His comic book collection as a kid was borderline obsessive and well he was really into the Black Comic Heroes which was even more exciting to me, and well it still excites me today. I’m sad when I ask little Black kids about Black Comic Book characters and all I get is Storm from X-Men.

I am less than 10 days away from heading back to Tennessee and well I can’t say that I’ve packed much of anything.  I’ve put most of the items up in my apartment for sale, I’ve sold a few pieces but I need to sell much more!

I am so happy to be headed home and yet the fancy mix of emotions I am experiencing is getting on my nerves.

So this is just a round-up of my the weekends OOTD’s and whatever other little bits and piece of me I can find to throw in.

So here’s the deal.  I LOVE PATTERN MIXING.  There are so many different way to put together an outfit that involves really paying attention to the details.  I often do this sometimes without even realizing. Funny thing is when I was in High School I wanted everything to match perfectly, which makes me cringe today.

So even when I pattern mix I still try to find some sort of theme. I’ve got plenty of tribal patterns in my closet. In this OOTD I am playing around with geometric shapes (triangles specifically here) Which  you can see echoed in the top, shorts, and sandals!

Tips for Pattern Mixing

  • Pair a Large Print and Small Print
  • Find a Theme. It can be based on color, shapes, design, or whatever your creative minds finds.  The clothes you wear should be a reflection of you.
  • Don’t think about it, if you are too worried about mixing the wrong patterns, close your eyes and pick, then try pulling the outfit together with accessories.

Pattern Mixing is def one of my signatures, what is a signature look for you?

Cropped Top F21 Summer 2011 I DIY Chopped to make it Cropped

Shorts originally Target Jumpsuit Spring 2010. I chopped the halter top off it has an shirred elastic waist which made it an easy snip and no need for sewing.

Oversized Brown Leather Belt Target (some years ago)

Rhinestone Sandals Target Summer 2007

H&M Zebra Pouch (yes I am pretty much wearing this with everything)

I am so in LOVE with the re-usable bags that F21 is selling.  They are only $1.50 and they come in so many different patterns. I’ve actually DIY’d one and made it into a clutch. Guess I should do a post about that. Either way they are a great steal,  and if you’ve always got too many things to carry with you they are convenient too!

The past week of my life has pretty much been a whirlwind of activity and I couldn’t have done it without the folks in the pic to the left. I have to admit that I have some awesome friends who are there for me when I need them most.  SunFest 2012 would have been a no go if it wasnt for Spoon, Coco, and Madame CJ(not pictured)

So this post will have a few of my OOTD’s for the past week and also some goodies that were gifted to me by some of my fabulous vendors!

Check out more after the jump!

June 7, 2012

3 days until SunFest and my Little(Play) Brother and Mentee from grad school is coming in from “The Boot” to help me with the festival.  I went from having him live right around the corner when I was in Cali to him now being on the Gulf Coast and me on the East.  So its a mini reunion and work gig all smashed into one.

The heat is back after a few chilly days which means no more last minute OOTD changes.  Its always a goal of mine to step  up my pants game simply because I don’t like pants.  I love alot of the new trousers and peg leg style pants that Ive been seeing. The work well for us less hippy Queens. Today’s OOTD is hopefully a step in that direction, let me know your thoughts? And don’t forget to Love your Body today, flaws, fineness, and all. More details after the jump!

Just a quick OOTD post.  Its cloudy and cooler today in DMV and I’m not complaining.  I really love the neon trend and well gingham is probably one of my favorite fabrics.

The Dress is Spring 2010 from H&M.  It is actually a size 8 but because everything is made oversized these days it fits.

The necklace is F21 I’ve seen it in so many other colors it other OOTD posts, but Neon Yellow was all I saw when I purchased mine.  This year I have really stepped up my necklace swag and how I can use them to accentuate my ensembles.

The Bracelet is H&M Spring 2012

and the RainBoots these have to be one of my all time fav staples. They are from the Gap and they have to be at least 5 years old if not more.  I purchased these way before rainboots because trendy and if you didn’t know I tend to precede trends and not follow them.

The Straw Clutch is thrifted and Ive had it for at least 5 or 6 years as well and its actually been broken and Ive been too lazy to stich it back together which I finally found the time to do this week!

See the full ‘Fit after the Jump and be sure to let me know how you loved your body today?
